I was part of the Royal Engineers Akrotiri mole project team in 1971 when we took over the officers yacht club. There was only 12 of us originally but we had about 20 royal engineers every 3 months come out from uk to help and assist. Myself and my mate Wally Telfer did all the drilling and blasting for the mole. We kept all our explosives in the RAF bomb dump and became friends with many RAF personnel. Our accommodation was an old WAF block opposite the Turkish barbers shop. Many memories of Akrotiri but only 1 photo. When we left Cyprus in 73 I think, I was posted to 49 EOD Bomb disposal, a reward for working with explosives for 3 years. After 50 years now I would still love to go back . Maybe one. Peter ex Royal Engineer
